Donohue Engineering's engineering expertise and highly experienced staff provide creative and innovative design solutions required for any development project. Donohue Engineering draws on its past expertise in civil engineering to develop projects to meet our client’s goals.

Donohue Engineering's roadway design experience encompasses both new construction and reconstruction projects. The projects range from resurfacing of local streets to new roadway construction and intersection design. This work involves roadway condition surveys and assessments to the design of new full depth pavements and storm drainage systems. Stormwater runoff analysis is routinely completed to demonstrate the design of new collection systems or to recommend upgrades to an existing systems to alleviate flooding conditions. Over the past years, Donohue Engineering has prepared construction plans and specifications for the following types of projects:

The NJT service area covers 5,325 square miles, linking major points in New Jersey, New York, pplications and Philadelphia. The NJ Transit Bus Operating Plan includes 260 bus routes serving over 19,000 bus stops. The NJ Transit Bus Stop Mapping Program has been implemented for over fifteen (15) years, utilizing GPS survey for generating geographic coordinates for each bus stop. This data serves as key input for support of several NJT Bus Operations applications, including Bus Scheduling, Route Planning, f municipal roadway and the Smart Bus Program.

Donohue Engineering has designed over eight miles of municipal roadway, projects including milling and paving and full depth pavement box replacement. New storm sewers and other utilities are normally upgraded during roadway rehabilitation process. Construction plans and specifications are prepared, project bid services provided and full-time or part-time construction inspection services are necessary for contractor adherence to the contract documents.
These projects involved the full reconstruction of 2,500 linear feet of roadway, including asphalt pavement, curbing, sidewalks and the upgrading of the existing stormwater drainage system.

Donohue Engineering provides hydrologic and stream hydraulic analysis on many of its projects. Stormwater hydrologic analysis is performed on all site planning projects to analyze increases in runoff and best management designs to calculate aboveground or belowground detention/infiltration basin designs. Stream hydraulic analysis is used in determine the effects of projects on downstream water surfaces for bridge replacement projects and also to determine flood plain limits. Donohue Engineering has obtained numerous NJDEP Flood Hazard Permits for various types of projects.

Donohue served as Project Manager for this project which involved the preparation of preliminary and final contract plans, supplementary specifications and NJDEP Major Stream Encroachment and Freshwater Wetland General Permits required for the rehabilitation of four bridge and culvert projects including a 130' long concrete and brick tile archway and for the replacement of a 55' long bridge.
Mr. Donohue served as Project Manager for this NJDOT design/build bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction project involving the preparation of preliminary plans, environmental permitting and utility investigation.
Donohue served as project engineer responsible for hydrologic and stream hydraulic analysis and the preparation of environmental permits including NJDEP Major Stream Encroachment and Freshwater Wetlands and SESC Certification for the project.
Donohue Engineering provides construction inspection services for its roadway and site development projects. Construction inspection services are offered to assure the contractor's conformance with the construction documents. Construction inspection is also provided as a separate service ranging from full-time inspection to part-time inspection support.
Construction Quality Control is necessary when tasked to oversee construction done by others. We control construction quality by preparing construction control plans, by preparing project specific checklists to inspect vendor shop drawings, and by preparing review forms to evaluate the contractor’s work and to determine if it complies with contract documents. We also prepare “punch lists” to ensure if the final work is complete and verify field tests. Interim payments are approved based on work completed.
Donohue Engineering is able to oversee every phase of a project, including construction. We assure that the final project is in accordance with plans and specifications and that payments to the contractor reflect the work performed. Our staff of civil, construction managers, resident engineers, and field inspectors coordinate each stage of construction through completion. Services offered include:

Donohue Engineering provided full analysis, design and construction inspection for The project involved the full reconstruction of 33’ long box culvert, including stream hydraulic analysis, wetland and stream encroachment environmental permitting, wingwall and roadway reconstruction, asphalt pavement, curbing all adjacent to a high pressure gas main.
The project involved the full reconstruction of 1,350 linear feet of roadway including asphalt pavement, curbing, sidewalks, and the upgrading of the existing stormwater drainage system.

This project involved the redesign of proposed subdivision roadways to blend into the natural landscape of the project surroundings, including the design of roadway geometry and stormwater drainage facilities. Donohue Engineering analyzed the previous roadway designs and prepared enhanced design documents. Construction Inspection services
